Nonprofit Leadership Fellows Program Receives Funding from Alumni

With over 30 years of experience in the finance industry, Thomas Finke serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of Barings, LLC, a financial services firm that oversees over $300 billion in assets from institutional clients in the United States and abroad. Thomas “Tom” Finke is also a member of the Capital Campaign Committee for Davidson College.

Founded in 1847, Davidson College is a private liberal arts college that receives nearly 1,950 students enrollees from the United States and abroad annually. With over 26 majors and 17 interdisciplinary studies available, Davidson College offers several scholarship and internship opportunities, including the Nonprofit Leadership Fellows program, which provides financial support and work experience for its students.

A program of Davidson’s Center for Civic Engagement, the Nonprofit Leadership fellows combines charitable initiatives with a student curriculum that tackles social justice, theories of social change, and the significance of nonprofit engagement. In 2018, the class of 1968 pledged to support students interested in service work and joining other nonprofits in the greater Charlotte area. Presently, the class of 1968 has contributed $210,000 out of the $400,000 endowment goal for the program.
