Thomas “Tom” Finke has been working in the finance industry for more than three decades. A skilled executive-level leader, he serves as the chairman and CEO of Barings, LLC, an institutional asset management company. In addition to this, Thomas Finke belongs to the board of advisors at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in North Carolina.
Since 2010, the Bechtler Museum has promoted the analysis and celebration of mid-century modern art. This is done through the institution’s collection of more than 1,400 works, along with its many programs, including the Modernism + Film program.
Developed via a partnership between the Bechtler Museum, the American Institute of Architects, and the UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture, the Modernism + Film program examines different themes relating to architecture, design, engineering, and contemporary art. This examination is presented through film, and each monthly offering is introduced by urban planners, scholars, and other professionals working in related fields.
The Modernism + Film events are usually scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the museum’s lobby. For an hour, guests can enjoy a reception complete with drinks and free snacks. Film screenings are subsequently held in the institution’s auditorium starting at 7:00 p.m.
